Professional Training – Overview
CCST provides the opportunity to train as a professional Cranio-Sacral Therapist with the most established college of Cranio-Sacral Therapy, leading the field with over 33 years experience of training Cranio-Sacral Therapists in the UK and internationally.
We offer a profound and comprehensive professional training of the highest standard, renowned for its clarity and practical presentation, its supportive approach to students, and its thorough preparation for professional practice.
The CCST training presents the unique all-encompassing approach of Cranio-Sacral Integration developed by Thomas Attlee. Cranio-Sacral Integration combines Biodynamics, Biomechanics and Mindfulness to provide a comprehensive broad-spectrum training. Our approach is founded in biodynamic principles – engaging with the most profound inherent healing forces within the body and with the deeper tides and rhythms of life – and incorporates a wide range of further therapeutic resources, in order to enable the most effective therapeutic response.
A Biodynamic approach can be very effective in appropriate circumstances. A Biomechanical approach can be very effective in appropriate circumstances. An Integrated approach, incorporating both Biodynamic and Biomechanical principles as well as a wide range of other resources, enables a highly effective response to each individual according to their needs, and enables each practitioner to develop a broader perspective, as well as providing a firm grounding in basic sciences and clinical experience.
Profound yet practical:
Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a gentle, yet exceptionally profound process, and this approach takes us to the deepest levels of our being, whilst maintaining a firm grounding in day-to-day clinical application. The training is profoundly transformative and graduates often report that it has been a life-changing experience.
“This course has transformed my life on every level. - professional and personal, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual”

Breath of Life
The approach to Cranio-Sacral Therapy at the College is founded in this rich variety of experience. The training is grounded in the work of William Sutherland, exploring the fundamental concept of an underlying vitality - expressed as the Breath of Life - which creates and maintains our health and well-being, and which is expressed through the fluids, membranes, bones and other tissues of the body. It incorporates the subsequent concepts of Rollin Becker, James Jealous, and John Upledger, and other modern developments in the field, including the Quantum perceptions which are crucial to a true understanding of the depth of Cranio-Sacral Integration, and continues to evolve and progress through Thomas Attlee's broad-based and comprehensive integrated approach.
Thomas has been a pioneer in the field of Cranio-Sacral Therapy, establishing the first college, and creating and developing his exceptionally profound, comprehensive and far-reaching approach of Cranio-Sacral Integration. The result is a very thorough professional training, bringing together a wide range of resources in order to develop a more complete understanding of human nature and health. The training provides graduates with the resources to address healthcare issues on all levels - physical, psycho-emotional and developmental - from profound trauma to day-to-day healthcare, whether in babies and children or in adults of all ages. The CCST approach is broad, flexible, practical and profound.
Thomas is also the author of “Cranio-Sacral Integration - 2nd edition” - a comprehensive volume which presents the unique integrated approach to Cranio-Sacral Therapy taught at CCST, and also “Face to Face with the Face” which explores working with the Face and the Cranial Nerves through Cranio-Sacral Integration. These books form the foundation for the training, along with many other key texts by William Sutherland, Rollin Becker, John Upledger and others.
The college is renowned for its exceptionally high level of support for students throughout the training, both during and between stages of the course. Tutors are available at all times for help and guidance, and there are regular study groups and practice sessions and a substantial support structure.
The training includes clinical experience and practice (not provided by many other trainings) a valuable and much appreciated aspect of the training, essential as preparation for professional practice.
The practice of Mindfulness forms a crucial foundation which underlies the whole CCST training in Cranio-Sacral Therapy, providing an invaluable resource for the development of a therapeutic practitioner presence. Thomas has been practising Vipassana meditation (the form from which Mindfulness has derived) for over 35 years, and has been incorporating Mindfulness into his teaching since the inception of the Cranio-Sacral Therapy training at the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy over 30 years ago - the first Cranio-Sacral training with a basis in Mindfulness.
